[Momma's] Meet the Nigerian Dwarfs!
Welcome to week 2 of our short "Meet the Momma's" series for spring babies at Penner Mini Farms!
Hiya, farm friends 👋🏼
As April draws near, our “baby season” inches closer and closer… so to help prepare everyone for the upcoming bouncing babies, we decided to have a short series introducing all of our Momma’s!!
After our Momma’s series, we’ll have a baby series so you can see all the new additions to the farm.
Last week we started out with our LaMancha Momma’s 🤩 and this week, we’re introducing you to our Nigerian Dwarf Momma’s (AKA “Mini’s”)!
Just How Small is a Nigerian Dwarf Goat?
If you’ve never experienced a Nigerian Dwarf goat, you are in for a delightful surprise when you first encounter them.
They are literally TINY!
NDG females average around 75 pounds fully grown (at approx 3 years or older), and they make great pets or companion animals, as well as a great milker for small families.
They are playful, spunky, and high-energy goats that come in a wide variety of colors and patterns, making for some beautiful goats to add to your farm or acreage.
But, we didn’t only want to introduce you to the Nigerian Dwarf breed, but also our “mini” momma’s - so let’s get to it!
(in order of oldest to youngest)
Meet Penelope
Penelope is our oldest ND momma by a solid week! She’ll be 3 on April 22.
She has swiss markings with blue eyes and made some of our favorite babies last year.
She is a great momma, makes us laugh every day, and we’re 99% sure she has the SOFTEST coat of all our goats (not including baby goats, because that’s not fair!).
We are expecting more kids from her in April 2024.

Meet Cookie
Oh, Cookie 🍪
Don’t tell anyone, but Cookie has absolutely stolen my and Jeff’s hearts.
(which may or may not mean that she is our favorite) 🤐
She’s such a good girl!! Plus she’s GORGEOUS!
Cookie is a buckskin doe with random white, roaning & moonspots and she’s gonna be 3 on April 30th. Her twin is Bucky (one of our favorite bucks!).
For the record, we’re fairly certain that Cookie will be kidding this week. She seems absolutely uncomfortable 😩 and her belly somewhat resembles a pop out camper these days…
Be thinking about Cookie this week, and make sure to sign up for the Baby Watch letters if you want updates on when her babies arrive!

Meet Sweet Pea
Sweet Pea is gold colored, with a white belt, and frosted ears 💞 and was born Cinco de Mayo 3 years ago.
She was a bottle baby (quad!) and loves E.V.E.R.Y.O.N.E that she meets!
Last year she had triplets so we’re wondering if she’ll do the same this year when it's her turn in April.

Meet Astra
Astra will be 2 years old on May 3rd, and her coloring is black with minimal white and blue eyes.
Fun fact: Astra was one of 4 of our goat kids that spent the summer at Camp Sonshine last year!
This is Astra’s first year as a momma so we will be sure to keep a close eye on her and take real good care of her and her babies ❤️

🛠 DID YOU KNOW... 🛠
Over the years, we’ve learned how to build a few things that are helpful as farmers of Mini Goats and sheep. We are particularly proud of our custom built hay feeders that fit the size of mini legs, and prevent young goats from getting their heads/horns stuck in the feeder with custom 2x4 panels.
If you know any one who may be interested in a hay feeder that works wonders for miniatures, check this out and share away!
🙏🏼 PRAYER PARTNERS FOR PENNER MINI FARMS 🙏🏼
Every day we try to pray over ourselves and the farm. We ask God to “give us clean air to breathe, clean water to drink, and clean food to eat”; for the animals and for ourselves. We humbly invite you to partner with us in prayer for the farm, as well as for your own families!
As partners, we’d love to hear how we can specifically be praying for your family as well; please do us the honor of letting us know how we can pray for you!
