Weâve started making Goat Milk Soaps!!Â
Keep reading below for the details or visit our website for more info đ„°Â Â
Hey friend.
Itâs been a minute since youâve heard from us! Â
But we wanted to write to give you a quick update on the farm so far this year, and for the months ahead.Â
In our neck of the woods (just outside of Lincoln, NE), the temperature is starting to cool offâŠwhich means weâre officially putting on our hoodies for early morning chores, but it also means that the seasons are changing.Â
And just in line with the colors changing, things tend to get a little different here at the farm as well.
So far this year, Penner Mini Farms has evolved somewhat because:Â
weâve decided to double down on the goats, sheep & chickens
âŠand we said goodbye to our horses (Coco & Rebel) and donkey (Alvin đ)
we also STARTED milking goatsÂ
âŠand after 7-8 months, decided to STOP milking the goats Â
To be completely honest, the milking was a lot more work than we had expected, and with Jeff and I both working full time at our local church AND having a full time farm - the 4am wake up calls simply did not jive with our schedules. Â
Thatâs not to say we wonât ever milk again; thatâs just saying weâve decided to no longer do it right now, in order to get more consistent sleep.
But as we creep upon the end of the year, weâre wanting to let you in on a few upcoming seasonal changes due for the months ahead:
If you purchase local farm fresh eggs, have backyard chickens of your own, or even are considering getting any - hereâs your âFall Reminderâ that chickens slow down on egg production as it gets colder.Â
For our egg customers, that just means to look out for special messages from us in case production gets low and we have to work a little creatively with what weâve got
Spring breeding will start for our goats and sheep around November/December so we can have some more bouncing babies in April/May 2024.
Normally, Jeff and I just hate it when itâs dark for morning and evening chores (because who likes to work in the dark!) but also because that means more time stuck in the house and less time outside with the animals. But you may or may not know that this year weâve started making handmade Goat Milk Soaps (our first batches were sold out in 1 day! đ„ł) and weâre super excited that weâll be able to make more batches of our soap throughout fall & winter when weâd rather not be outside. Â
These soaps are great local gifts for the holidays and already some have been pre-ordered for gift baskets! Â
I do hope you reach out if you want some farm fresh eggs, are in the market for some happy baby goats/sheep soon, or if youâre interested in what we offer for Goat Milk Soaps (can you say Mango Explosionđ„đ„?!?).Â
Leave us a comment if you have any questions. We are here for you!
